Helping people living on the street
Several nights a week we go out with hot meals and a kind word for those living on the street.
"One more day making food for people living on the street, and I love it." It all starts in the kitchen: a huge pot of bolognese sauce, homemade ravioli cooked by several hands in the family, and food containers being packed one by one, ready to go out warm.
Then comes the round. A stop at the plaza, another at the Hospital del 32 in González Catán, another at the Banco Nación in Gregorio de Laferrere. At each stop, a hot meal, a short conversation, and a shared prayer: "Holy Father, Eternal Father, we thank you for letting us get here to bring food to our brothers and sisters in this situation."
On Christmas Eve we make a special effort: special sandwiches, a Christmas bag with pan dulce and turrón, so that no one spends that night alone.
It's not just about handing out food. It's about sitting down for a minute, looking someone in the eye, and reminding each person that they're not alone. That little moment, for us, is worth just as much as the meal itself.
